I'm looking for a 12v impact wrench and just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on where to get one cheap. I was going to get THIS but there are none in stock at my local stores.

Any suggestions? Only looking for something cheap - under £20.

Thanks.

lol, might be but I just want somethig cheap and cheerfull tbh as I won't use it all that much. Anyone got any other suggestions?

My mate, who works at halfords thought they had one for £13, but it turns out they don't so I need to find somewhere else. Ideally want to get one at the latest by mid next week so would be best if I can find a shop nearby, but I'm not having any luck.

lol well we had one and it couldnt undo the bottom pulley on the engine!

personally i'd buy a compressor, like a 25l one, only like £60 or so, but atleast you can use all sorts of stuff with it then!

tbh mate it's not worth the money for me to buy a compressor as I don't really do enough work on the car to warrant it.

It's just really for the likes of taking the strut top nut off without having to go up to the garage to get them to loosen it off so that I can get it done.

I've got a breaker bar already. Do you reckon I'm as well using that for the strut top nut? I thought there was a chance the spring could pop out of place doing that?

whether you undo it with a breaker bar or an impact wrench the end effect will be the same - said nut will be removed.

not quite an impact wrench is more likely to work than a breaker bar!

no but the nut will come off in the end is what I meant...from his message I got the impression he thought the spring would not pop off if he used the impact.

now I'm just confused. Basically I had been told by Fred off Cliosport that the best way to undo the strut top nut, as I can't find a 21mm swan neck spanner anywhere, was to get a 12v impact wrench which would take the nut off easily. He also said that I shouldn't use a breaker bar as doing that there was a chance that the spring would pop out of place.

Is that all correct or would I be OK just to take the nut off with a breaker bar?

The other option is just to take it to the garage up the road to take the nut off with an airgun, but the guy who owns it is a tit and would probably try to charge me about £10 anyway.

I've just found out my local makro has them for sale for £9.99 so that should do the trick I hope. Thanks for the help everyone.

just incase anyone is interested the impact wrench worked a treat when removing the strut top nuts. It took a couple of goes at it but well worth the £10 IMO.
