I was just thinking to myself, what are the differences between the Standard R19 and the 16v?

I was thinking, PH2 16v:

Twin Headlamps
Bonnet Vent
Colour Coded Bumper Tops and rubber bump strips.
Front Splitter
259mm Front Discs
Rear Discs
Leather Interior (Option) or a diffrent type Cloth interior
Leather Gearnob Gaitor
Trip Computer
Oil Pressure Guage
Black Velour Carpet
15" Speedline Alloys
16v Badge... lol
Different Struts / Springs / Shocks?

Of course there was Spoiler, Skirts, 16v Steering Wheel but you could get normal R19's with these as part of the "Sports Pack". The strut brace was also on TD's and RSi's I think.

The PH1's had a totally diffrent front bumper with relocated indicators, Skirts which wern't an option to "normal" R19's - anything else?

Someone once told me the 16v's had a extra coat of laqure compared to the Standard cars? Sounds like bollocks to me, any truth in it?

LOL always find the front splitter on a p2 valver funny, its just rather shit isnt it?

I know, rather than use a full length jobby ill whack in three chunks of plastic, that'll look great!

My middle bit got ripped off years ago on a kerb, other two corners are hanging in there, just.

i thought the torsion bar was different too, but im probably talking shite as usual...

Yeah standard 'splitter' looks stupid! Just do as everyone else in the world does and whack on a laguna splitter.

the gap in the splitter is to aid air flow to the brakes for cooling...

Grrr, we arn't talking modifications here!! Splitter is pretty pants, but its never the less something 16v specific. The gap serves the same purpose as the cut outs in the PH1 bumper (even more so cos the alloys were "solid") in aiding cooling to the brakes

I think the whole "rear beam" is diffrent, the torsion bar is external where as on my 1.4 it was inside a tube - nice technical explination there

never fear the Don is here,

ph1

Strut brace covers, T 40 screws hold the brace on (13 mm bolts on non 16V's)
lower front arch liners, solid on non 16V's, hole and brake duct on 16V's.
Rear beam, on e1.4's its enclosed (tube) on 1.7's etc all open like the 16V but with drums not discs.
brake bias valve.
Bonet vent, headlights, indicators in bumper
bumpers totally different
side skirts
struts and springs
dashboard
door cards
carpet (was optional black and came stock on GTS-X's etc too)
steering wheel
gearknob
wheels
wiring looms
engine
gearbox
wishbones
driveshafts

The ph2 not much was different tbh, only running gear really.

I think we have the first instance of Chris H being totally wrong!

The headlamps on the 16v's are totally different to that of the standard car. They Standard car had a H4 and a sidelight bulb, while the 16v had twin headlamps - a different bulb for the high / full beam and a sidelight. You can tell the difference when you look at the lamps even when they are not lit.

In addition I believe the indicator stalk on PH2's may be different. When I got my valver it suffered from the usual "no fullbeam on mainbam" problem, I switched it over to the one in my RT but when I clicked on full beam the main beam bulbs went out (because in the RT full and main are in the same bulb and they can't both be lit at the same time). Switched the stalk over to one out of a valver and when I stick full beam on, the main beam lights stay on.

Wasn't the rear bumper the same on 1.4's as 16v's etc, just colour coded ? And the GTS-X came with the 16v style steering wheel?

Also - another difference with PH1's was the 16v's had tinted rear light clusers.

well headlights may be on some but the ones that was on that 1.4 that I stuck on that valver were like ph1 16V, seperate lights usual main beam/dipped bulb then a motorbike bulb as the additional main beam bulb.

Usual poiggy back wiring to.

Stalks are the same. The stalk you used will have been knackered.

Ah, so the RT's "Main off Full On" and the Valvers "Main On, Full On" is done via relays? Funny how the RT one worked fine on the RT and not on the Valver!

Not yet seen a non-valver with Valver headlamps, but I'll keep looking!

Just thort of another one, the PH2 valvers had that red line in the armrests of the door cards!

Thats gotta be it... surly...

ph1 valvers have the red stripe to.

Dependiong on the model different coloured door cards, speaker set ups etc etc

loads of difference across the range but a lot of cross references to keep it all worthwhile.

Thats why the ph2 is softer, it doesn't vary as much as the ph1 did thats why it was more expensive to produce.

over here only the very basic versions got the non-tinted rear light cluster. TSE, TXE and so on all had the tinted ones.
but the 16v ph.I (both Chamade and hatch) has kind of a reflector between the tail lights.
