righty since I was out the back clearign up I decided I had better have a look and stick some stuff back on the old hatches engine.

These pics may be usefull to some of you esp JB.

if anyone has any specific pics they need let me know.

I can also stick all the missing bits back on if needs be. Think i will anyway to keep the weather out.

Even though its under a tarpaulin waters getting in, plugs wells are full of water.

and a few spiders have made residence inside the inlet manifold, pulled what I could of them out, and there were some bigs un's shoudl have took a pic. But Amber ran off screaming, like, well like a girl really.

The coolant pipes aroud the thermostat area look like their in a different 'arrangement' to mine,was there more than 1 way of doing it?

its a big old engine for 1.8 innit, i was thinking it when i done my head, i know it looks big with all the ancillaries on it but even so.

yeah huw....on some old ones (like urs i believe) there is a press-fit pipe entering the head itself , get a pic of urs up....then on later ones(like mine i shall get a pic) they have a cast housing that contains the stat which bolts onto the side....this is a good idea this thread.

good pic of the timing belt RIchard...is that ur engine before u painted it pink?

can you point out the CTS and sender on that early style head chris? also how does the ISCV attach to head?

6 pics down JB, ISCV is on a bracket onto the thermostat housing which is misisng in my pics but you can see the ISCV wiring plug where it should be.

ah right same spot...is the stat housing just smaller on the early ones...ie just the size of the stat...?

where is the CTS and sender?

CTS white plug on left, temp gauge sender brown plug to the right of the CTS.

Stats the same but the housings diff thats all.
