Hey up, right the car is on axle stands on both sides of the front atm and both wheels off.

Ok so i started it and put it into 1st and 'drove' it and it was ok. The drivers side spun 1st then eventually the passengers side..

However I was constant at about 2000rpm but every so often it would drop right down to 1000 like it was going to die but then it returned to normal again, any ideas to what could be wrong?

cheers.

yeah don't jack it up and simulate driving

its probably the lambda sensor, yo unered to get a decent load on it to heat the thing up.

that means get it driving on the road

ok i see, what's a £250er Surprised

The reason I did that was to get the hubs moving so I could get some of the surface rust off with the brake cleaner.. lesson learnt Smile

Erm so the discs would spin and I could lightly apply the brakes while someone was spraying the cleaner on it..

Ok so it's slightly dangerous but it's not like I was redlining it and it wasn't going to drive away was it, plus it worked didn't it?

Why not just drive it and use the brakes to clean them like they do every single day?

still a stupid thing to do.

Maybe its cause I have seen so many fly off the stand when this happens, dunno maybe I'm to cautios these days.

best one was a volvo, in 5th it was floored on 2 stands, idiot applied the brake, off the stands and into the living room.

also why wioudl cleaner remove rust? err it wouldn;t, dissolving rust isn't its job! fpmsl! the reason they cleaned up was cos you were applyign the brakes, nothign to do with the carb cleaner.

JB - The car really isn't fit for the road tbh

Chris - I kept it in 2nd and the braking was only light, who ever does that facing the living deserves all they get.

The brake cleaner was to remove the dust off the caliper and any shit on the pads from doing what I was doing.. Before the cleaner there was just rusty dust everywhere, the cleaner did a good job.

The best way to clean em up would be a good thrashing down a road but i don't have that luxury atm, so that had to do.

Anyways lesson learnt, anyway Chris though you were notorious for doing dangerous things?! :p

Also within days of no use they will just be rusty again.
