i've nearly got my old 106 ready for sale so i'm starting to look at a new project.

as the title suggests i'm thinking about putting a 172 engine into a phase 1/2 clio 16v.

has anyone done this already.. if so what problems (if any) did you come across?

It has been done before, IIRC Dan on here is in the process of doing this conversion. I believe the electrics are a bit of a bugger as well.

Don't really know much about it other than that it has been done before, IMO you would be better dropping an F7R in there and just have it tuned to get to 170 BHP.

right, yes there are loads of problems ive come across so far!

the engine mounts are no where near the same, the inlet manifold has to make way for throttle bodies as it too high. the exhaust manifold i havent even contemplated looking at yet!

and all the wiring for the valver lump has to come out, and the wiring loom for the 172 has to go in, including the ignition barrel as the 172 has an inbuilt immobiliser into the key.

Also you need the non-return fuel system and so on.
