My car a 19 16v starts up fine and idles beatifully, well good enough. however if I try to touch the accelorator when cars not even in gear the revs just drop to 400 rpm the car spits and farts and then will rev ok. only does this on a cold start up. If I however apply gentle throttle then it revs fine. this means I have to wait a few minuites before driving off (Although in cold weather it gives the engine and car time to get warmed up)otherwise trying to drive straight off puts it under load and it just bogs down. Have seen a similar thread to this. Would I be a wise man to look first at the CTS ?

yes it could be the CTS.

Its a tricky problem as a few things could be causign it.

but it could be a map problem or a TPS issue.

Think I will try the CTS first as it wont harm. I did look at the TPS and it looks as though some garage chimps from when I last MOT'd the car have had a play with it as the screw heads are slightly mauled and they had been touching the mixture as the anti tamper cap was removed, Plus afterwards the car stalled at every given opportunity. Think they had tried to get round my faulty CAT problem, grateful that they tried but wish they would leave some things alone. They were however better than the specialist fitters who supplied + fitted the new CAT the old ones bolts looked well corroded up so I payed a few quid extra to have it fitted. 2 months later it was blowing and I tried several options of new gasketts and sealents to sort it. Put it on the ramps and realised that they had hit the down pipe flange with a hammer bending it like a banana.

Same old story... quickest way to f**k your car up is to let someone else work on it.

Yes Chris but you are the minority. there are some amazing mechanic/engineers out there. Its just finding them.

Exactly, take it to someone who specialises in your type of car and you have a decent chance of it being done properly.

Take it to the garage down the road who works on anything and you're basically asking for it to be bodged any which way they know.

A lot of these bigger garages just have a couple of experienced engineer type people. The rest are usually cheap labour low skilled or trainees usually trained to do set tasks they are fitters not problem solvers this I think is where a lot of the problems occur. Thats my rant over.

5th injector isn't needed at all. The car will still start at -20 degrees with it unplugged.
