got a speedo cable fitted today and can read all the info from the trip comp unfortunately, it says 19-20 mpg driving in town in 2nd and 3rd gears under 3k rpm ,is this about right or have i got a majorly fecked engine ??????

should be getting more than that, i can only just push mine under 20mpg by making a concerted effort to rag the arse off it, slowing down, accelerating hard etc

well the engine seem to be running sweet as ferk to be honest ,just been serviced and all as well . can it be a wrong reading from the computer ?

Doesn't the economy guage work based on averages?

I believe you can reset the ECU to get a more accurate reading.

it works on a rolling basis so even if it was messed up it would sort itself out after a certain time.

If you twist the little knob it resets all the parameters though, but im sure Schakal has already tried that....

schakal have tried everything mate, and believe it or not schakal does not give a shit about what the computer says .
now the milage is running as well ,i can easily do the calculation myself .the same bloody computer shows the outside heat as 122 degrees celcius as well Laughing

Work it out off the fuel guage , the trip in my old 16v was useless....way out.

yeah the old 122 temperature is standard - knackered sensor in the wing mirror.

i cleaned the sensor before fitting but it doesn ot seem to work ,it must be ferked ,well who cares Laughing

my sensor works too Smile

quite rare apparently that they do work and oooo look schaks, 2 BLUE 19's with the sensor that works . . .

My red one has a working sensor too! My old blue one's did too....so thats 3 Blue 19's with working sensor Wink

i have 3 spare sensors that i never got around testing ,i will bother someday Laughing muhahhaaa

on the way to work the mpg reading went up from 20 to 32 in 7 miles ,fecking improvement ehh ????????
i have also seen 55.4 mpg at the point i resetted the computer while driving Laughing

my white chammy has a working sensor.

Taking the 4 of us (JB, Neal, Alan and me) up to 120 got my clocks reading 19mpg.
