The extra 2.6cm won't do much with regards to braking or looks to be honest. When you start getting onto 320mm oversized discs and calipers is when things get intresting.

If your planning an engine upgrade, just buy a valver with the engine brakes already there for you or you run the risk of ending up with a nedbox Wink

top wjhats this is the slider bolt, the other whats this is part of the custom bracket.

those are the bendix efforts the girlings would have done right on.

i jjust upgraded the mrs megane from 238 vented (rsi size) to 259 (16V) and they only just squeeze behind the wheel's, braking is much better. loosk good to.

best rthing is, 20 minute swap! lol

Cheers for the reply.

How is that other bit part of the custom bracket though when these are the brackets? I don't get it!

Are you saying i've bought the wrong calipers then?

I hope these are right and I notice the same difference you did Very Happy

You fitted 17 inch wheels to a R19 1.4.

Better tyres and break pads with the original setup + a good service will give you better handling and ride.

Your going for a muppet look thing.

AmDaMan, the brackets in denis' photos are functionally the same as your ones, they have just been machined slightly differently for the recess. Yours have been machined to the drawing, so the recess is described by a curve, whereas denis has machined straight across the holes and counterbored for the bolt heads instead.

BTW, how much did simon charge you for them?

I have a 1.4 clio R1916S (the pic is dennis.dups R19) - soon to be a 16v when funds allow. The handling is superb as it is, the wheels are 215/40/17 and gives good grip, lowered 50mm (a bit lower at the back, soon to be adjusted)

As you know my brakes are the standard bendix 239mm which are piss poor. I decided to go for this setup as it should be a lot better plus it's something I won't have to do when I do the conversion.

Neal, how do you know Simon was doing them? He said he had other interest, guess that was you? Very Happy Anyway his mate did them for me he's not making a penny out of it which is pretty sound of him tbh, and if I ever meet him i'll buy him a pint. They are £35 which I think is superb as they look very well machined indeed.

Is that all I need then? Just that bracket? Do you use the bolts from the current setup or do you need the R21turbo bolts (they seem quite small). So I have the right calipers then?

Oh you know on the calipers, how important is that spring that spring loads the pads? As there is a chip in one of mine and a bit of the thin bit of metal is missing.

Thanks.

Edit: Just been playing with the calipers and one of them wont slide! I've tried hard to prize it etc but it's not budging- is it shafted? The other one is fine and both the nipples are fine.
