For some reason my car pulls nicely to 5.2kRpm and then you feel a slight dip in power. This deep seems to carry on right upto the redline.

Thing is, it doesn't always seem to do, or I don't always notice.

Any ideas? I'm not losing water, and oil seems clear from mayo, however, I do have a small oil leak which appears to be HG Question Have changed: HT leads, Spark plugs, dizzy car, rotor arm and battery and oil every 4k miles. Weird thing is that she'll happily pull to 100 and on to 115 (where I back off) so hardly down on power and eats my friends 150Bhp Mk2 Golf GTi so I dunno wtf is up :/

Also, some muppet has fiddled with the idle screw on my TB. Is this hard to reset? Easier to get a replacement form scrap yard? or screw it all the way down?

Cheers guys.

Ok Chris.

Any things I could try.

I'm thinking it could perhaps be my fuel pump as when it primes it sometimes makes a dodgy noise :/

Any 'common problems' that could cause it?

Cheers.

Get it on a rolling road, that'll tell you if everything is running ok

Not exactly a cheap option.

fuel pump can be a deffo cause.

Does it sound strained?

The gauze sock on the pumps inlet can clog up and cause the pump to die if not caught quick enough.

It doesn't exactly sound strianed, just when it primes, sometimes it;s normal (just like the buzz noise) but then other times even after the buzz noise has finished it makes like gurgly sloshing sound.

Like a weird crunchy sloshy sound. Weird :/

It's almost on 111k now that pump, as is most other things lol.

get it checked on a scope if you want to know for sure but it won't be cheap.

Don't know much of mechanics, but it looks like it could either the fuel filter clogged or air ingress in the fuel line???

Confused Question
