I know this is not technically a retro question but still might apply to some.

I am looking at buying a salvage repairable clio. 02 plate catD Now the bodywork does not bother me as this I can remedy. However these clio's are fitted with side airbags in the front seats. One passenger side has deployed. Can you unplug the seat and just change the seat by first deactivating the battery for a few hours. will this allow the seat to be removed? The salvage car isn't a problem but the one in the breakers yard will be. It will should be discharged as battery is disconnected. Basically don't want an airbag going off in my face on removal or especially refitting the new seat back into the car. Or is it a specialist job? Airbags scare me as I have never worked on one.

seat airbags shouldn;t go off on removal at all. unplug it for a while if you must.

Also the airbag ECU is destroyed when a bag pops so you need a new airbag ECU for the smacked car
