I can remember this guy selling ECU's not so long ago. I do believe Chris and some others gave him a bit of a roasting on the validity of his claims.

yep and he posted on these forums to defend his product.
I have some probs with the superchip in my ECU (now gone back to a standard ECU) and emailed this seller wanting some details of his chip.

he was not exactly forthcoming with information.

Quote:

You asked:
"Hi, is this for just the eprom or for a complete ECU? I assume its just the chip. Are these solder on or push fit into a socket on the board? Power increase is of course subjective to the car its being fitted to and its current mods, do you gurantee a minimum bhp increase with the chip? If there is no increase do you offer a refund? Have you got any rolling road/dyno figures for the chip compared to a standard ECU? sorry i know its a lot of questions but £75 is a lot to pay for a chip thats premapped and unable to be rolling road tuned at time of fitment. Thanks for your time, Simon"

Hi Simon, Eeprom needs to be soldered into place. Only very few ECU,s had a socket. As for guarantee, power increase etc, all I can say is we beat the best with this chip on the race circus.regards, Mick.

Guess i'm lucky then cos all 3 ECU's i have all have the socket for the chip.
I have no faith in his product simply because he offers zero proof of wether his claims are substantiated

Well i expect he would counter by saying that the proof is their race winning pedigree. But I would say thats on highly tuned/modified track engines, it doesnt really carry much weight for a standard/lightly modified road engine.

He does not even offer proof of the race winning pedigree thou.
No link on his auctions to a site showing his cars or any other site relating to the clio cup showing his cars in action.

Exactly!

He only seems to have sold 1 anyway. it's the third one down on his feedback.

But surely not our Chris H or is it? Laughing

just checked out the official renault page for the Clio Cup Championship and in the rules and regulations sections for cars being entered.

section 5.8:

NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE ENGINE AND ANCILLIARIES OR ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ARE PERMITTED.

SECTION 5.8.3.2:
The engine and electronic control unit (ECU), are sealed using metallic and paint sealing systems.
SECTION 5.8.3.3:
The seals may only be broken with the permission of the series Eligibility/Safety Scrutineer or his appointed representitive
SECTION 5.8.3.5
Any engine not bearing Renaultsport seals, or of which one ore more seals are missing shall be considered to be non-compliant with the technical regulations.

so i would say that those chips were never used in the clio cup, if they were then he was breaking the regulations and should be stripped of any championships he won or of course his claims in the auction are bullshit.
