For the hatch, MOT due on 2nd Dec, Insurance renewed today (£615 fully comp for both the laguna and the 16v hatch) and Tax is due on the hatch end of Nov.

gonna put the hatch in for its mot this weekend to see if it fails on anything before its current mot is out.

same policy, the laguna is insured as the main car with the 19 as an additional but on a restricted mileage use.

Old? Afford?

pffft flippity doo dah on both accounts :p

Hatch is booked in for its mot tomorrow, there is an mot station on the ind estate where the company i work for is based, so i drop it off to them at 5am when i start work and i will know the verdict when i get back off my rounds.

if it fails on anything tomorrow (prolly rear brakes if anything) at least i got about 2 weeks to sort it before its current mot is out.

The hatch failed its mot Sad

OS Inner Sill corroded - apparently its spread to within the prescribed area for it to fail with regard to the rear suspension, the rear axle has to be dropped to weld it up

Parking Brake - inop (not sure on that one as to me it works, admittedly u have to have it as hard on as it will go thou lol)

OSF Stud broken (oopss forgotten about that, broke it ages ago)

OSF & NSF Inner wheel arches corroded

Cat Not Fitted - Customer advised MOT Tester that engine in car is from an earlier model, proof required (engine number to check with renault)

Advisory: Corrorsion on outersills behind side skirts both sides (unable to inspect sufficiently)

basicly looks like the hatch is a bucket of rust Sad

at least everything mechanical i've done to the car over the last year all passed lol

anyone on here good enough with a welder to do the work i need on the car?
I will of course pay for the work that needs doing

Bah Crying or Very sad

Not much you can do other then get it welded up where required!

after all that work getting the engine sorted too!

What is the 'OSF stud'?

This is interesting though:

so they do check then. But by the sounds of it they just rely on you to give them the engine number, so you can just get a number of an earlier engine and give it to them and they'll be none the wiser. Hmmmmm...

OSF Stud - i broke a wheel stud getting the wheel off to change the springs on the car many months ago, i broke two of them, managed to get one out and the other was stuck fast, i forgot about it.

Yes they do check for the earlier engine, i have proof of mine as i still have the V5 for the white hatch the engine came out of.

i shudder to think how much all that welding is gonna cost from a proper garage Sad

i'll charge up my cam and get some underbody shots tomorrow of the rear suspension.

Image

dont look that bad does it? but apparently its spread under the car and affects the rear suspension mounting

Bring it up to a MOT station round the corner from me, it'll pass on all accounts they only check tyres.

It'll probably need a balljoint tho (I recon he's got a huge box of them and thats his 'fee' for passing a car).

Neo - you had the skirts off that car?

nah i dont think so schakal, its gonna get welded, i don't fancy the rear axle falling off whilst taking a corner at speed.

if you had read my post correctly you would know that its not just the arch thats affected, the rust on the arch has spread underneath the car to the rear axle anchorage points, the axle needs to be removed and the section welded up
