its really worth spending a bit on sockets...as simple as "you get what you pay for".
cheap sockets will split, i've opened many cheap sockets like flower with very little effort. you will end up spending more in the long run replacing all the ones you break.
i spent £23 on just a ratchet from halfords cos my "cheap" one broke...it feels so solid and well built i cant imagine it will ever let me down. |

I don't trust snap on gear at all. I have snapped to many of them and gouged out chunks of my hand as a result etc.
halfords pro tools are what I use. |

The good thing about Snap On is that they are gauranteed for life if one breaks you can simply replace it! |

I have yet to break a halfords effort, and they will also replace them. |

clarke are good, and cheap..ish
also, tried machine mart?
pserosnlly never brought anything from there, but they seem to have a lot of stock. |

they are reasonably good...they sell clarke stuff mainly, which isnt too bad but i wouldnt bother with sockets or spanners...things that need to be really good quality...other stuff they are good for. |

seems to be the smaller sizechrome vanadium sockets that break for me 13 mm etc.
but i guess there under more stress the larger ones? |

i have been using my neighbours chrome vanadium set he bought for 20quid from focus sometime ago and never had problems ,cheap does not always mean crap imo |

I bought a Chrome Vandium spanner set from homebase the other day. Halfords was shut and i couldn't be arsed driving to Kirkcaldy. Have to say i am very impressed. £16 for 6 spanners, 14-22 with 16 and 19 missed out. |

damm right i wont listen to peoples experiences ,cause none of them have owned this stuff and cant tell me they are absolutely crap ,instead they are telling me halfords is good and all that crap
bought the 24.99 set in the end ,looks decent enough for me , the only thing is its "CHALLENGE" make rather than "HALFORDS" ,and i bet you the sets people buy in halfords are made by companies like this and they just stamp it as halfords and sell 3 times more expensive ,thats why they can afford to replace the bits if they break . |
