Hey, how much do people reckon it would cost (minus labour) to change an auto to a manual. So thats a new box, clutch, oil, linkage and stick.

Any point or just avoid auto in the first place?!

Cheers

you need,

gearbox
linkage
gearlever
flywheel
clutch
pedal box
clutch cable
driveshafts (depending on auto box type)

Prob around 3/400 for the parts.

the you need to remove the dash etc.

So avoid auto in the first place.

Like I said come and see my grey one. If you get the grey car it won;t need any work done to it as its all done. We can discuss price.

Sad Only person to have guessed low!! Was £350, 44k, 1cm of rust, engine and box are sound (apart from the obvious!) Very slight noise from the exhaust, no biggy and the balljoint has gone on the ns.

And yeah, Uphall, just next to Livi!

Tax till end of Nov, ticket is only mid July but I reckon £30 max to get it through! Fiver for a balljoint and then have a closer look at the zorst.

4 new tyres (Michelins) £130
timing belt done at the proper time last year
loads of history, always been serviced and genuine mileage.
Just a few scratches and wee dings but nothing bad at all. Engine sounds better than my mk2 ph1 1.4!

whats the box like? Change ok?

Has the leccy faUlt light blinked on yet?

Theres a stunning 34k ph2 silver 19 in the local scrappy, box dead, they don't last.

Rustyarchs had to have his rebuilt after 60k, bargain at 1200.

Even after it was rebuilt when there was frost outside the light always came on and it would go into 3rd gear and stay there.

Box is changing spot on and its not going to be rallied cos its not mine! The light only comes on at start up with all the other normal lights. It wouldnt get rebuilt, jsut get a new box, probably manual. Reckon it'll only cover under 6k in her ownership so I'm not overly concerned.

Todays thinking is though to get a white 3 door rt for much much cheapness (MOT failure etc) and cover the cost by selling the boot to a mate who needs it and may also want the interior and electric windows for her diesel and use the box and eveything to do with that in my gf's car. Then put her auto box into 1 of the clios that the box has failed on (a couple on ebay round the £60 mark) and then sell the auto on. Theres hopefully method in my madness!
