right ive replaced the alt from the blue one, and frm inspection it looked in good nick, so put it on and connected all wires back on it, put newly sprayed inlentmainfold one front head hamp and rad back it, started her up and the battry light wont go out at all now!
had the lights on main beam for a couple of mins then took it for a spin, and it was like driving round with candles lighing up the road, so i know the alt's not giving any charge to the battry, but why, im guessing the alt wernt as good as i thought is was or summat else, if you know what else i could be tell me, im flying around in a 1.4VW vento and i want the 16ver back on the road! its well pissing me off!!

right well ive compleatly change that alterntor today, my guess with that one was that the alt was actually knackard, so ive put one on that was in my hatch and was fitted no more than a year ago, well more problems now!!
first thing i noticed was that the barrty light doesnt even come on at all on 3rd click, so i checked the bulb and its fine! when the engine was idleing it was sittin at about 11.80v and when revved it didnt go up! went out for a spin anyway and now there is some problem with the starter!!! it seems to stay on, even when driving!! you can hear it humming (spinnin) away, so i removed the +starter wire form the battry and it stoped but so did the radiator fan which was on at the time so i put the starter wire back to the battry and it wernt spinning ovwer now, but the rad' fan kicked in!! there is some major probelem with the wiring on my car, the alt is fine i know it is!!!! so it must be the wiring earthing some where, if anyone has had this problem before gis a shout, cheers for any help!!!

right orted the starter mota thing out, all that had happend was that a bolt had fallen off the rocker cover down the back and was earthing the live wire to the starter, but im still not getting any battry light on 3rd click or any change in Voltage when revved, it goes down to 11v-ish when i put the blowers on, the heated rear window and shitck it on main beam but the engine dosnt seem to lose power ort out, im sure it can be the alternator after fitting 2 differant ones.
must be somthing in the wireing, what colour wire goes fromt eh alt to the battry warning light in the dash???
cheers

the brown plug is for the light, the wires you bolt on are the pos and neg wires.
