Best tyre for 1.8 16v (That doesnt break the bank)

Hi,

The tyres wont pass an MOT and therefore will need replacing.

The tyres that are currently on there are 155/55/R15 (on Turbine alloys). However my mates keep reccomending me good tyres however they dont seem to do them in that size?

Whats my best bet? Thanks.

It depends what your after tbh. You can spend a fortune on top brands but if your after a cheap tyre to pass an mot then there are several arround.

Kumho and are a good all round make and are quite cheap too.

Cheapish but decent, id be happy with an average tyre i guess. Not looking for a performance tyre in particular just wondered if there was some sort of "sweet" tyre that was cheep and very good.

TBH with tyres you get what you pay for.

A good price for a 15 is around Â£40, you can get tyres for less than that but as I said "you get what you pay for"

I can get toyo proxies for Â£37 fitted and ballenced, best tyres ive ever come across, wear quite quickly tbh.

I always found them quite good too TBH. much better in the wet than some other brands.

indeed. very good in the wet, i'd have the inner rear wheel off the ground with toyos on the front!

I've always found Falkens to be a good balance between price and quality.

Best one I've had on any of my alloy wheels were Fulda's when I had the 15" TSW wheels on the 19. Had them wheels for over two years and they lost hardly any grip.

I had Fulda's on my ph2 1916v and i thought they where ok aswell,

iv got Toyo's on the 21t just now, but they slide about something terrible in the wet, but they seem to be wearing well though

You'll want 195/50/R15.

Best tyres I ever had were Avon ZV1's, great wear / grip but they don't make them anymore. Look at the 'treadwear' rating on the tyres, lets you know how hard they are. Tyres are like wine, everyone has a favourite.

I was starting to think that the size 155/55/R15 might have been wrong?

Are you sure 195/50/R15 will fit the turbine alloys perfectly fine?

roddy you have yokos on the 21!

I have toyo's on mine, best tyres for the money bar none!

The correct standard tyre size for the clio is 185/55 15, but 195/50's are for the 19 and will go on the clio fine.

aye it should be 195/50/15 liane, try some budget nankangs or do what chris done go 2 my tyres order 4 toyos if they still 31quid each cant go wrong there

185/55/R15 - Toyo Proxes T1-R - Â£52.20 Per tyre.

195/50/R15 - Toyo Proxes T1-R - Â£32.90 Per tyre.

Talk about a price difference Shocked

told ya the reason for the 195 being cheaper is that its a very popula size and they can sell buckets of em where as the 185 isnt as popula so they wack the price up, who was these quotes from btw and ask em if they will do a deal on 4 tyres i.e 30quid a corner

ah, i remember now, it was Toyo's on my ph1 1916v, good tyre but used to get punture's with them all the time.

But the Yoko's are still pants in the wet Laughing

Like I said old boy, when they are done get the toyo's and use the 195/50's as well.

If it wasn't a 5 stud we could have stuck mine on to give you an idea of how it would have felt!
