Hi all,

I raced a mark 1 5 ts in the classic touring car series class e last year and won the championship and I am building a 5 gordini turbo for this season to compete in class c. The car has undergone a full restoration but we are having trouble with the standard calipers overheating and not coping with stopping the higher speeds. We have got some 3 stud vented discs but need to find a meatier calliper for the front end. Any ideas before I spend a fortune in the trial and error approach.

what calipers are fitted at the moment? Girlings or the ate's?

Girlings from later cars may go on.

Are you using any ducting at the moment for the brakes? If not this may solve the issue.

Thanks Chris,

Ducting isn't making any difference. The surface area of the gordini callipers is just too small. Even though the cars a lot lighter in race trim with the extra power and grip on race tyres the callipers aren't stopping us quick enough to be competitive. Do you know if the 8's are bigger as I've never seen any?

make yourself up a wilwood 4 pot caliper (id recommend the dynalites!) setup. only problem will be machining the caliper braket so it will fit on!

They should improve your stopping power no end!

We have the original fan alloys as the series states that the asthetics of the car have to be as original as possible.
