Well some of you know some of you don't but I re-aquired the Black exec a few days ago.

It came back with dead starter and the other handbrake cable had snapped.

Changed those and that was it sorted mechanically.

Bodily we all know it needed attention, its a ph2 after all. So the plan was sort the bodywork out and make a mofo beast of a gangsta pimp wagon for my mum to scoot aroudn in when I sell the clio.

The boys I sold it to had a sadly to often used method to fix structural corrosion, bodyfilla.

This is how it was when I took the skirt off this morning

the underneath of it

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2002.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

out wi da grinder, removed theold outer and cleaned back a lot of metal, it was sounder than I expected.

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2003.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

this bit was where the plastic screw thing for the skirt went in, this sill being made from 3 pieces on the outer and 4 on the inner doesn't help with corrosion!

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2004.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

made a patch, you'll see where this red bit came from in a mo, I stripped the paint off before welding

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2005.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

patch welded in, pretty? no, not at all. Strong yes, it stood up tot he 2lb hammer and chisel test anyway! Nice metalic ring when its not welded properly its a dull thud noise.

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2006.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

popped the side trim off, found a rust bubble underneath which grew when I scratched at it, I also chopped th ecorrosion out of the arch

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2007.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

Now I had a bit fo a ph1 rear arch in the boot, it was plenty big enough aprt fromt he 1/2 inch or so at the top. So I measured, then measured again and still cut it to small! lol

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2008.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

lol muppet eh! Anyway not a problem always get another one.

set about the lower rear inner, chopped the shite out

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2009.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

tacked in my repair patch

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2010.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

welded it up, looks fecking awful, would help if there wasn't a gale force wind blowing the gas away! Penetration was fine and it was pretty strong, lifted the car up slightly with the stock jack in the slot I made for it

[img:567:378:b32328d039]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20weld%2011.jpg[/img:b32328d039]

The boot floor, theres a flange where the boot floor meets the inner rear 1/4 panels. As always there was something drawing me to it, more specifically my hand, as always my hand was under control not by me but but by some force of magical power. This force made me pull the flange and a lot of it just came away.

So dileama. Fecking lovely car, it really is, those that have seen it will testify to it. But its a pear thats 3 years old - rotten!

So I could chase corrosion around the car and weld the thing and sink a lot of cash into it or the other choice the one I have taken is to break the mofo.

So the cars being broken, already a lot of stuff has gone. I want the thing bare for going to the scrappy, so if you want or need something look in for sale section please!

Anyway the engine and box etc has to be out for Doc tomorrow, so I got started on that tonight. Will have it out tomorrow.

I pulled the front end apart to make things easier

this is how I left the beast, you can also see the bit of painting that needs done on the bonnets leading edge.

well in a way its the best thing to happen. I get some money back.

the thing doesn't have a V5 abnd hasn't been legal (taxed anyway) for about 3 years. So if it gives its bits to help others then thats ok in my book.

some serious work needed on the sills..as mines in for a respray, the skirts came off..and was suprised..

the only rot on them was at the rear..just up to where the quarter panel finishes(3dr) the rest of the sill was untouched..
