am currently cleaning a block up, so far by hand to remove all old paint. after ive finished farting around with it, i wouild like to get it "dipped" in one of them hot tanks to get it immacualte ready for paint.
whats the term actually called so i can find out where one is local..dont really know what to ask for. any ideas what it may cost? any one done it before?
and really pushin my luck does anyone know anywhere that does it in wales?

Do you mean an Acid dip? Local metal works, blacksmiths or engineer shop should be able to help. |

ahh acid bath ....do they use hot caustic soda too? that stuff wil eat thru anything...
ivebeen using oven cleaner so far...work really well!! gets the old paint lifting...and grease and grime in half the time...lol
just dont get it on ur hands...stings |

acid dip aye caustic soda at 80 degrees I think.
Anyway make sure you strip the block right down. Also this will not get everythign off/out. |

Oooh you've just reminded me of the day me mate took the sandblaster to one of the mounting brackets on me 19, he was holding it in his uncovered hand. Boy did he squeal |

new ones just press in, I (and many others) just use a bit of broom handle or if its a funny size a socket on an extension.
Silicone/blue hylomar etc will seal them fine.
You want them about 1mm recessed. |
