Ok few things,

i noticed while i was bored in long traffic jams on the A14 today.

If i am still and push the brake pedal very hard, and then release it slowly i will get to a point and you will hear a "clonk" from the rear caliper.

I can repeat it over and over and it will make the same clonk at the same time over and over. And also when braking you can hear a small clonk every revolution of the wheel, however it seems intermittent, sometimes it happens othertimes it doesnt, no the caliper/pads isnt loose.

Also on the motorway, the clio started making a new noise as they seem to like to do, back right of the car around the arch, it started clicking lots?? Sounds very much like a relay noise, it would do it while i was stood still and would do it randomly no real pattern?? Mad Are there any relays in that part of the car?

Thanks!

Confused

For the "clonk", try replacing the flexible brake tubes

For the clicking, make sure the alternator belt isn't getting stripped, if so it may get underneath the distribution belt and brake it, happenned to me while back, and had to change all valves

Flexi tubes? arent they on the front calipers only? Its the metal green ones all the way to the rear calipers no?

CLicking isnt coming from the engine, very much the rear of the car.

Embarassed

I didn't read it correctly...

Well, in that case you should check the litlle pumps (how u call it?) within the rear drum brakes, could have something to do with the clicking...

That's a linguistic barrier, I thought calipers were the drum type... Crying or Very sad

Either way, with flexible brake hoses or not, it looks like when he brakes hard, the guide pistons tend to stuck and then release, thus the clonck.

Or it can be (if it has flexible hoses) an inside damage of the hoses

When you aplly the brakes, there are pistons (one or two) that move them towards the disc. If they get seized, they can get stuck. To check them, you have to remove the weels, then the calipers without removing the hoses, and ask a friend to aplly the brakes. Only then you'll see the piston(s) and be able to lubricate them, preferably with a solid sprayable lubricant like molycote.

Best left to a diy or a mechanic

flexi hoses go between the shell and the rear axle, they can cause the problem like Jorge says. The hose collapses internally then one when certain pressure is achieved will they flow.

The clicking at the back arch may be the aux fuel pump or somehting.

Im not sure havent really investigated, clicking has gone i guess that was just a random clio noise.

Ill get the hoses checked out.
