Brake Warning light comes on, pedal travels to floor, car no stoppy at traffic lights.

Managed to avoid hitting owt and rolled to a stop in waitrose car park. H

Having checked the system there aint a leak, the resevoir is still full. Good old ph1 with Bendix system.

What are the likely causes? Am I right in assuming this is the end for the ph1?

It's the end for your Bendix system. Does the ABS pump come on when you put the ignition on?

You got off quite lightly by the sounds of it!

Time to convert to standard brakes!

No the ABS pump doesn't prime when you turn the ignition on.

I was very very lucky tbh.

I don't think I have the time to do the work it needs, I've certanly lost all will to work on that car any more, Just gave her new gearbox oil, oil filter and engine oil, top and bottom rad hoses have just beed replaced too.

I mean how much am I looking at to get it fixed?

In terms of parts, only a few quid. Just need a normal master cylinder and pedal box, one out of any 19 in the scrappy will do, doesnt have to be a 16v. Then just make up a couple of brake pipes.

Trouble is the labour, you'll need to lift the engine out to do it.

Chris did it to his blue ph1, look in the 'blue hatch adventures' thread.

to get the system fixed could be anywhere from £10 to a few grand.

Converting from ABS to non ABS system about 500+ for a proper job

To be honest I can't really be bothered with it anymore.

If anyone's interested in a ph1 16v in blue then let me know, obviously it'd need trailered away and needs work to the brakes but everything else is ok.

Either that or I'll break it for parts and scrap what's left over. Even the leathers are in fairly good nick.

I also have a spare box in the garage as well as both heat shields a spare wing mirror in blue and a brand spanking toyo t1.

my car has ABS too, but it's a bosch system... should i be worried? it doesn't seem to do much anti-locking atm tbh, but more acts as a regular non-ABS car...
