Engine mount wouldn't cause a 'hard knock' at 5,000rpm whilst accelerating surely? It would just knock as soon as u slammed ur foot down, or let off the throttle to change gear etc. If you had a massive turbo that kicked in at 5,000rpm then maybe? I'm gonna stop pretending I know what I'm talking about now.

I concour with simonds

mount would be there when booting/backign off not specific rpm.

Specific rpm I would say probably some sort of internal engine issue.

Impossible to say with the crap explaination you gavce us!

How hard is the knock? Is it like "OH SHIT MOTHER FUCKER WHAT WAS THAT!?! Shocked " or is it like "hmm, there's that knock again"? From previous engine mountings going on me (even though they were in a fiesta lol), the car starts to handle a bit hillariously cuz I spoze the engine's got a bit of extra movement to swing around over bumps & through corners etc. And gear changes are......well........interesting. Like you'd accelerate and the engine would lift up a bit with the acceleration, and then put your foot on the clutch to change gear and BANG it'd come back down sorta thing. And there was SO much movement in the gear stick it was unreal. Accelerate in 2nd and it'd move a good 2 or 3 inches lol.

well it seems to be at a specific rpm, or maybe its just me, well theres a thud and i feel it through the steering wheel, at first i thought it would be loose wheelnuts, but there fine, the engine has also hit the bonnet an caused a dent bout half the size of a golf ball.it only does it when full throttle, at 5k its fine but full throttle theres definatly i large thud,

the front mount is well fuckered, i just picked up the new mount...£33 fecking quid! just pulled out of partco, and accelerated then bang and the engine died my instant thought were cambelt, but then made sure the cams turned, realised it wasnt firing, then cleaned the crank sensor and it started first time, so thats another thing on the list.

well infact the front one is perished but serviceable, it is infact the gearbox mount that has gone, so i now have a front mount, not needed but worth keeping, and a completly fecked gearbox mount, so bad infact, i can put my hand in between the rubber and the plate.

33 quid for a mount? Shocked renault charge that. I pay 11 quid from the factors for them!

The track rod, get stilsons on it.

heat it with a blow torch to get the loctite loose, then it will just unwind.

Sorry if I'm being thick here (lets face it, I'm probably known for it now!), but how does a fucked gearbox mount cause the engine to move enough to hit the bonnet??!

the box and front enging mounts can split and when you accel the engine/box lifts right up and out of the mount.

my bulkheads got damage from it. The lifting eye at the backs went back and scraped the bulkhead.
