my bendix rear passenger side caliper has failed on my clio, warping and cracking my disc in the process.
i need to get home on friday from southampton to swindon, (1 hour m/way drive) Every time i drive it the alloy gets superhot, anyone got any useful suggestions about getting home. (& not get the bus.) Im concerned that if the disc is warped & cracked that the crack will spread under the heat on the way home and shear the disc in two.

Since the piston in the caliper has seized, someone mentioned just removing my pads coz they arent doing anything anyway.

why don't you just un-sieze it?

if you remove the pads trust me it will unstick its self and then you won't be laughing.

and yes that cracks gonna grow

take the pads out then get working on the caliper piston, work it back and forth, it will eventually yield and retract enough to prevent it stickign on etc. If you work it back and forth a few times and make sure th esliders are free then you can drive it but take it easy no long brakign periods etc as the disc will just break up.

bear in mind you are going to have to replace the disc and pads and do both sides, always do these things in pairs.
