need a bit of advice chaps, fitting new centre section exhaust tomorrow but can't get hold of gaskets anywhere, will i be able to make one up?
also been thinking about bashing the inners out of the cat (the one on the car so don't call RSPCA!) heard a couple of you mention it, but is it possible and how difficult is it to get right?
Cheers

u should be able to reuse the gaskets already in there as theyre made of metal plate. just coat both sides with some gasket sealant.

i think the noise from a hollowed out cat is rather crap...dunno if it does much good for back pressure either compared to a small dia pipe straight thru....theyre about £50 from ktec or u could get an old cat, cut the flanges off and weld a bit of tube to them.

Don’t hammer out the cat. Most people do it and it does make a difference but it is also counter productive as the gas still expands into the chamber, get a straight through de-cat to keep up exhaust gas velocity.

You can make one yourself if you can weld, just cut the flanges off your original cat and use them.

As jonny says, just re-use the metal gasket.

Cheers Jonny, Thinking of making my own. was goona use old mid section for parts as it's only the baffler thats broke off, giving me tube and one flange. my cousin is a fabricator so while i'm under the car can measure other flange and have it all made. it all seems to be time or money, and i have neither!
