does anyone know the best way to change a gearbox on a clio 16v?
i dont really want to be taking the engine out but if thats what it takes... i was thinking bout lowering the subframe slightly to gain a little more access to the gearbox side?!?
anyone got a quick way?

Would be possible I think, but it will probably be almost as much work as taking the engine out. And taking the engine out has the advantage of cleaning everything up, tiding and check everything else like cambelt etc.

yes you can do it by lowering the subframe slightly, you only need it to come down a few inches so the end case slides under the chassis rail.

You can just about manage it without doing that but its frustrating.

Hoising the engine out is ok on the clios as the mounts are better for doing this.

clio has less room in the bay and ally sump box is wider at the bottom so its trickier to swing up and out
