Decided since she had money it was time th eMrs had her front brakes sorted out.

Pug 306 1.4, both front discs for 21 quid. Had a set of brand new pads for the white 19 with bendix (cack) calipers so they went on the pug. Took a long 25 mins to change the lot, had to use a lup hammer to knock the discs off then get the wire brush in the drill on them.

Made some difference, they have never been right since she got the car and only now did I force her into paying up. Only about 50% of each disc was being used. Also the knocking whilst moving has gone from where the rust was hitting the pads.

Need to get to the scrappies and get her a new rear nearside auto adjuster. The monkey's who worked on the car before she got it had slapped a dod of weld on the thread to stop the adjuster winding in, also stops it adjusting out!

Replace the burst outer CV gaiter (got a new one here for a month or so), sort the exhaust which is hitting the rear axle and plop in a new engine. Then MOT it I suppose.

Fixing cars is usually fixing others mistakes!

Thing is now efforts been used I dunno if I can be arsed swapping the disc rear axle onto the beast. Bought a nice 6 sided deep 19mm socket for the job this morning.

Main probs still gonna be that rear brake union, reckon i will squirt it with wd-40 the now.

But can I be bothered? Nope.

So do I or don't I???

There on, they work and they look ok. Took pics to chronicle the saga.

Was full of highs and lows.

Will update the progress report soon!

Ah right, knew there was something wrong with them! You tried any handbrakes yet?

handbrake holds the car thats about it, the discs are still a bit rusty. They have been outside for weeks after all.

They need re-bled, it was all a bit of a drama.

Exhaust hits the axle etc, will tell all in the progress report.
