right, well looks like its gone again, was going into town and a clatter developed, so i thought hmmm... get it home then examine it, going up the road, deaccelarating for the junction then the wheels locked soild, wouldnt bump start. im giving up on this car now especially as im picking up the car my parents bought me next weekend.

fair enough ,go and drive the brand new corsa daddy will buy ,end of problems .

is the ph1 16v for sale now ?how much do you want for it ?

well actually its a clio 172, im keeping the 16v, might go the way of a meggy lump

im keeping the 19, doing it up with a megane lump possibly, or just put the rebuilt engine in it when its done...
but atleast ive got reliablility with this 2001 clio, got it for 4.5k, 39,000m, FRSH, Completly standard.

now ive got a slating to be prepared for!

lol now theres a stupid statement if ever there was one! Be prepared for lots of visits to renault and lots of things going drasticaly wrong.

lol, at the moment anything is more reliable than the 19, everytime it went out it had to be towed back.

right well, what do people rekon it was? im going with big ends. as it had seriously lost power about 5 minutes before hand.

could be lots of things. In Ben fae Leeds old chamade, the engine would start and run, sound fine for 10 mins, go drive it and it woul lose power, they after 10 mins it woudl seize solid.

Leave it half an hour and you could drive it again.

That engine is in my shed out the back and I have yet to strip it.

I thought big ends or a distorting piston but the bore is unmarked.

well, i went back to it last night, 4 hours after it went, and all the starter does is click, then at about 10mph tried bump starting it being towed and it jams the wheels solid.

the clattering was really loud, as if something had come loose and was being held by one bolt.

well, found out that its jumped a tooth on one of the cams as almost al the lobes are facing the same way.

eh? why not look on the pulleys and see if the notches are aligned..slightly better way to tell....FYI there should be 17 teeth on the belt between the cam pulley notches.

lol nice, re-time it and see what happens. Make sure the keyway hasn;t broken off the pulley!

well i have to free off the engine first! i tried turning the engine backwards but it wasnt having any of it.

ur either very unlucky or u keep forgetting to put oil in ur engines but isnt this the second engine of urs in the same car to die the same way?

i bought the car with a snapped cambelt, and that had bent a rod.

struggling to see how the snapped cambelt bent a rod tho.
