indeed JB, indeed. Bent rod would suggest water ingestion or a head gasket that leaked coolant into the bore perhaps.

Anyway, if its not turning either way take the cams out and the plugs!

The valves hsould all pop back up, you can tell if they pop up as the tappets sit about 5/6mm above the lip on their housings, if its flush with it then the valves are bent.

right, well its fucked, the engine is at BDC, i just snapped a breaker bar trying to turn the bottom end wth out the cams and plugs in.

snap on that explains it, the most overrated tat in the world, I have broke pretty much every snap on tool I have used. Yet to break a halfords pro tool!

actually i agree with that chris.

halfords breaker bar has had me + mum jumping on it the bend something out of the way.

well quick update, the head is off, the engine has siezed at BDC, so i dont have a clue what caused this, but ive put the clutch in and tried turning the engine incase the mainshaft on the gearbox had siezed.

heres a pic of the cams, not the position of them.
