Been told to talk to Chris H on here about a ported and polished head for my RT?

What sort of gains would I be looking at with this..

Looking to the following

s/s exhaust with decat
1.6 8v megane bottom end
1.8 8v TB from laguna (SPI)
ported and polished head
bored out inlet manifold for laguna TB.

Do you know what sort of gains I would be looking at and how much do you charge for the head work? cheers.

PM him mate - though I'm sure he'll see this soon enough. I was thinking about doing all the above to mine but at the moment I can't really afford it. By all accounts if you were to do the above, chip it and cam it you could be looking up towards 120-130 bhp.

Have you put a 1.6 bottom end on yours finch? What else have you done and how has it improved performance?

Nah I haven't mate. Would love to do it, been thinking about it for a while as my 1.4 bottom end needs sorting out (I think)

I'd never heard of anyone doing it ever so I made a few threads on t'internet and now I' see a few people talk about it Very Happy

I've put a de-cat on and replaced the standard filter with an ITG panel filter in the OE airbox.

Tbh the filter didn't do much. Made the car pick up a bit better. The de-cat deffo made a difference. Nothing huge but you can feel it. Those 2 and keeping the car serviced as best you can using decent oil should see it drive nicely.

I kept up with a Bora TDi up a hill once Laughing

But nah seriously. Lovely little engines, just depends how much money you want to put into them to make them better.

I still might do the 1.6 bottom end but it depedns on two things. 1, what stae my current bottom end is in at the moment (it might be fine adn something else causing me a few problems) and 2, the price of getting the 1.6 bottom end fitted.

Have to wait and see Smile

is there any difference between 1.4 8V and 1.6 8V head? are intake valves in 1.6 8V bigger than in 1.4 8V head? would it be reasonable to exchange the valves?

The 1.6 8v head is Multi Point Injection.
