i have just got myself some valver suspension sorted consisting of dampers, springs, ARB, struts and driveshafts, i'm wondering if i can put them on without the shafts, struts and ARB before changing the engine over or do i need to put the arb or struts on? basically to keep the amount if bits i have lying around to a minimum! mine is a 1.2 rl versailles atm so any info would be great.
If it makes a difference i'm putting the 16valve brake set up on too consisting of pads calipers and carriers

Does the 1.2 have a standard ARB? If ity does then its prob the same as the 16V, the 19's all use the same one.

But yes you can just stick ont he 16V suspension and leave the rest till later.

The hubs may be the different bolt spacing though (52mm vs 54mm), so you had better check that 1st.

i am unsure on both of those potential problems so i'll have to do some more research, if the hubs are different any ideas how much they are and where i can pick them up from?

Silly question.... Long term with larger 15 or 16 inch wheels would these fit the 1.2 clio's front and rear arches along with the 16v suspension? Are the wider panels on the 1.8 16v for show?

if you use the 16V rear axle and full front susnsion incl wishbones etc then yes you really need the flared arches to ensure theres no scrubbing.

i have 16valver front arches fitted so it's not a problem and i'm on the look out for an RSI rear beam for the disc conversion so it doesn't matter

you need to measure the top mounts you have and get the right sized replacements.

well if your going to fit 16V gear and you want new top mount for the 16V stuff then you need to measure the 16V bits.

Another stupid question...

If you fit front clio 16v front suspension, increasing the track which is cool as Rich says he has the plastic front 16v wings. Would this not mean you should change to the 16v torsion bar which is uprated and with hubs all in all that are wider to keep suspension set up similar? Or will this not make too much difference. Confused

if i had about £300 just to fit the rear arches i would but it aint gonna make a ridicoulos amount of difference! the rear discs are really just for show tbh they aint tht much better than drums inho

wider rear track does help the handling but its not to much of an issue really.
