Need some help i get this burning clutch smell when everytime i pull away with to much revs(eg 1700rpm or more)from a standstill start so i'm thinking the clutch i have must be s**t(and it's supost to be an uprated clutch  ) and has not got a good clamping force so what i want to know is what brand of clutch is everyone using in there MK1 clio 1.8 16V/2.0 williams(eg O.E,velao,black diamond,EBC,etc etc) and are they standard or upgraded as i need a new clutch for when i get my hybrid conversion in the car  so whats everyone got or reconmend. |

oe is valeo.
valeo, sachs, luk, borg and beck, QH I have all used and never had a problem with.
Blew an EBC one withinew 5 miles once. |

iirc mate you live just down the road from me. If you go to Brown Brothers just off gorgie road for the clutch they do Valeo ones for £70 iirc. They were certainly the cheapest I could find when looking for a clutch. |

i got a williams clutch for mine of a bloke on ebay onlt cost 58 quid and was brand new.
think the company was something like westwood trading.
clutch seems to be good so far |

my clutch is an AP Racing unit from a R5 GTT bought off ebay for £40 brand new  no problems with it at all on my 19 16v, done about 1000 miles on it so far |
