It just snapped in front of my house, as I was parking it in my driveway...

Never done the change of it really, looked at dialogys, 4 reference numbers, so it'll probably be in stock at my Renault dealer, price is 9 quid (sound too cheap)...

How many hours to change it, do I need to get under the car?

Thanks

It's not difficult, I found the hardest bit guiding the cable through the bulkhead into the cabin, but if you use a bit of string it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

it can be a c**t of a job.

not helped by the fact that the shape of the plastic bit on the end of the outer which locates against the bulkhead varies.

the one I just put in my chammy, I had to loosen the 4 nuts holding the brake servo to the pedal box in order to create a big enough gap to allow it to go between.

The one I put in the hatch had a smaller end and required so such faffing.

Relatively easy to do, £9 sounds a tad cheap my local dealer wanted £22 quid for one. Take the exhaust manifold heatsheild off first and you will see where the cable goes thru the bulkhead. Get a peice of string and tape it to the end of the cable inside the car, go round to the engine bay and then pull it through making sure u leave some string in the cabin. Take ure new cable and put the string on that and take it back through the bulkhead, get ure hands down behind the exhaust manifold and makesure the plastic lug thing is located properly in its hole. Now next thing I did was hook it up engine side, then aslong as u have small hands you can guide the cable through the guide hole on the clutch pedal and finally secure it in the self adjusting mech. I found removing the panel under the wheel and taking out the air-vent pipe thing made visibility much easier when guiding the cable through the pedal.

Done, 20 minute job, really a laugh to do, only things that's strange is that the pedal is so soft it's ridiculous...and it grips immidiately...

I had a show for getting the cable, my local Renault dealer didn't make my order, and I was pretty pissed about that, so I phoned all the dealers in the district, eventually there was one in stock some 100 miles from my home, but I had my friend who lives half the way go pick it up...

I didnt want to buy some no name b qulity products in local motorshop...for 10 quid...i paid 20 quid for this one but I hope it'll last

You did the right thing.... cheap non-Renault cables don't last like genuine ones.
