combat paintball (in thetford)

I've been doing this all day and tbh it's great fun and not all that expensive either.

Thetford has by far the best paintballing site in the country and I have been to loads so take that as gospal. Wink

group discounts ect just like all the others but much more fun and pyrotechnics are allowd Twisted Evil

Pfff paintball is for wussies and ppl with plumbing equipment fettishes. Real men go softing, all year round in all weathers. Driven past the Thetford site afew times, quite afew good sites around this area. Norwich has a good un and theres one in Necton (just past Dereham) and another abit further past that.

Nothing wrong with paintball matey, I've done all sorts of battle simulation and tbh, if you just do it for a fun day out you'll not be dissapointed.

I'm not sure what softing is but I'm interested now, so do tell.

ive been to one near huntingdon thats pretty good , the best one i found yet.

havnt been to the thetford one yet

Not a critic but not my thing, no "tactics" so to speak and not exactly friendly on the wallet. Softing/Airsoft/Milsim more what I prefer, one big rolling day of objectives is fantastic fun even for the unfittest of ppl and more realistic.

Only problem is theres hardly any dedicated sites around here apart from Peterborough which is a fantastic site, all pyros allowed (flashbangs, smokes, b grenades) and they even had there own smoke/bb mortar. Lack of sites tho meant sharing sites with paintballers (apart from winter as they dont seem to go play then) who tended to go where they liked and shoot us for no real reason.

Can you hire guns at airsoft places or is it always bring your own? Only ask as they aren't exactly cheap Smile

Maybe that's why paintball is more popular as well, more accessible?

Would love to give airsoft a go though.

yea, I've used the plastic bb guns before. thay can hurt just as much as a paint ball on the skin. lol

I have to dissagree to your opinion of paintball having no tactics though. I guess it depends on what scenario you are performing or if your are doing it as a sport or just for shits and giggles with the wife and kids. Good sites have lots of different ranges and scenarios to take part in, and if you go on an adult night or on a army run day then tactics do come into the equasion.

I do see your point though as it can be very expensive to buy your own kit and the balls are a lot of money too, unless you buy your own in bulk. but that gets into the relms of it becoming a serious sport for you and a big investment.

Depends on the site, dedicated airsoft sites (freefire zone in peterbrough for example) yes. Always best to book in advance as numbers of hire guns can be limited. I will admit paintballing is more available, airsoft tends to be more in it for the long run than out for a day for a laugh. The lenghts some people to for realism is rediculous though and can get very expesnive very easy with a massive range on upgrades/accesories on sale. I opted for the essentials, rifle, pistol, combat wear (trousers, boots, jacket/jumper and assault vest). Probably about Â£400 in total over 6 months and ammo is dead cheap 3700 rounds for about Â£6/7 a bag and last a day or 2 depending on how trigger happ you are. Once you get going cost isnt an issue really just site fee, petrol and ammo which was the main attraction for me.
