I've just tried to order one and have been given a choice of a white or black plug. I've heard someone on here refering to them as white, but was just wondering if all R19 16v's have white ones? Or do I need to check mine just incase? Is it possible to see wether it's white or black without taking anything on the car apart? Or do I have to get in somewhere akward? Cheers

its the white one. you can just take the plug off it to check if you want to see for yourself. Gearbox end of the head, screwed into the thermostat housing

On a slightly different subject, would givin the car a pretty good thrash on quite a long drive clear out the idle control valve if it was dirty? Or clean something out that might affect idling?

Everytime I get home from being out somewhere, the car is like "chug chug chug" when I park, hunting for idle like...........but tonight I park up in me driveway and she's like a legend. Bang on 1,000rpm all the way Very Happy

lambda sensor could be playing up, but you cant really 'clean it out'.

1,000 rpm's to high for the idle, ideally around 900rpm, but 950 is ok.

ICV's tend to get manky due to inlet tract reversions, thus they get oily/sooty from reversions taking vapour from the breathers to the valve.

Lambda sounds like a culprit and you can cleran them but thats another story.

Make sure the TPS is plugged in properly as well.

TPS is plugged in properly. Changed the CTS on the weekend and no difference so it wasn't that. Will try replacing the ICV when I get Si's off him, and then if it's not that I expect it'll be the lambda sensor.

Do I have to take any of the exhaust off to change the lambda? I know you can see the wire & plug etc on top of the exhaust, but I assume the sensor bit is INSIDE otherwise it wouldn't be getting any kinda reading! Just if I have to go near my exhaust again I think I will have a nervous breakdown Rolling Eyes

I think something's gone wrong somewhere Si Sad If you posted the ICV & Chip last wednesday, surely they would be here by now?

Did you post it to my home address or work address?
