I at last swapped my coolant temp sensor over the other day, bloody pain in the arse it was to get it too, as usual.

heres a pic of the old one. I didnt take a pic of the new one before i put it in, but the end of it is meant to be a shiny metal cylinder. This one has rotted away completely down to the electronic thermistor doobrey inside.

Car now starts first time perfectly, idles spot on and im convinced that my fuel economy has improved slightly too, but maybe im just dreaming there.

yeah JB it starts and idles perfectly now, hot or cold.

used to really grumble and splutter when started from cold (and was a real pain to start at all when REALLY cold like early morning a few months back), now it just starts and revs, then quickly comes back down to a rock steady 950 idle. Lovely!

Hmm, my idle moves around ever so slightly, could this be the problem?

no there are not the most stable of idles....u can replace the coolant temp senser tho as it is prolly in the same state as the one above. should help a bit with general running.

usually at gsf they ask you what colour it is.....

that code above i dont think is right as i only paid about £8 for mine (unless thats in euro or something)

mine was a white one...go and have a look on your engine, side of head, thermostat housing bolted onto side, its the senser on the frt of this housing...not the top. the top should be a brown round one which is the coolent temp sender for the dash...its the square white one to the front.

That was in pounds so i guess its wrong then, i don't use gsf at all so took me a while to even find that!
