Well sice yesterday i have now replaced everything i can think of....

1)Radiator
2)Eventually got a radiator cowl as well (Chris will be pleased - only been about 6months lol)
3)Thermostat
4)Coolant Temp sensor (brown plug)
5)Header tank

It still does its up and down wandering between 1/3 and 2/3!

It has been bled/flushed/reflushed about a million times.

Grrr. Bloody car!

SOLVED!

Spoke to nick @ hillpower today, and he said that it is normal in this weather!

the stat will open, allowing cold water thru, it will then shut, and then heat up again, before opening again! apparently this is normal in cold weather, and when it gets warmer (hope and pray it does! had enough of snow/rain!) it should stay steady as the stat will be always open!

1)Chris - when you coming to eat my car? Razz
2)I'm dissapointed that none of you guys knew this!!!! Wink

ok well whats the problem then chirs????? Rolling Eyes

a few 16v's i know do this also, and would be nice to know what the problem is. it 99% for defo isnt an airlock due to the number of times ive bled and flushed the system!

i would assume if nick doesnt think its a problem then it wont be. he does build fast road and championship winning F7R's for a living! Smile i could be wrong tho...

Mine sorta does this, it certainly doesnt stick to one level.

Normal operating temp for me is a bit above 1/3rd when on the motorway.

A little bit more than that when driving round town (nearer the middle of the range of the gauge).

When standing it will rise to 2/3rds at which point the fan will kick in.

Same as Laine is mine.

Although fan kicks in a little early. But that's better than a little late.
