CV boot...gettin annoying now

i rang GSF for an engine mount, they assured me they had it, so i drove over there and well well well, someone had fucked up and their computer said they had one in when they didnt.

They need to sort it out.

BAH after all the fuss of askin them about 3 times to get it in for me it was the wrong feckin one anyway!!!!

ok tonight after work i thought im just gunna get my money back from gsf and bite the bullet and go to renault...bound to get it right then.

fought with traffic in rush hour for half hour in the blazing sun....got to renault...he said i need to know the dia of the shaft...about 30mm i said...and confirmed the size of the larger one too...all very well.....actually had it in stock too! thats a feckin first for me!

took other back to gsf money back no probs....also went to halfords and swapped paint can for right colour!

im on a roll i thought...get home...ready to do the boot...jack up car start undoin wheel nuts...uh oh...wheres the adaptor for the lockin wheel nut...nut in its usual place...bollocks...looked around for about 20mins wonderin what the fuck im gunna do (got mot sat - need to do CV boot and 4 tyres...i NEED that adaptor)

realsie i must have left it in the wheel the other day and driven off with it shit!!!!!!!! it cud be anywhere in swansea...almost givin up i wandered up the street in desperation...and low and behold what do i find in the gutter!!! i couldnt believe it!!!

back to the job...just about to undo hub nut...realise i cant fuckin finish the job anyway cos i haent got the means to put the bloody poxy new boot on...no pincers to do the clip....

rather dissapointing evening really.......done loads of work and got nothing done...

AND im bloody sure this CV boot is still thw wrong one...theres no way the small end is gunna fit over a 30mm shaft...im just hopin theres a step down or something...BAHHHHHHHHHHH

stupid feckin renault man...asked me what dia the shaft was...about 31mm i told him...

what he HSOULD have asked was what dia the small end of the boot is...cos its got to fit OVER a 31mm shaft....so ext its about 40....which i have found on dialogys...bloody arse!

now i have to sit around twiddling my thumbs...which i hate doin...wait til after work tomoz...go to renault...undoubtedly have to order it (can see why it was in stock now...cos it was the wrong one!!) wait til minimum fri to collect...then try fit before sat mot...oh and still havent sorted tyres...think i shall put mot off for a bit longer

ok......went back to renault yesterday...didnt have it ...went back today they got it! yey!!!

got home...happily gettin on with it...wheel off, hub nut, strut bolts, rod end, btm ball joint...peeled back the gaitor....ITS A FUCKIN GAY SPIDER AND YOKE THINGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGH!!!! i totally dispair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

cant change it without removing whole shaft....which means drainni the box...puling the inner joint off the shaft, just so u can slide the gaitor off...!!!! what kind of fuckin moronic idiot designed this thing!

think i will just give up and when it goes in for mot ill just say the boots gone..heres the new one can u swap it over for me

i hate things like this....hate!

I assume its the passenger side gaiter then?

gunna give it another go now....(head has cleared) got some fresh box oil, and a nice funel with flexi pipe Very Happy

there was mention that the gaitor could possibly be stretched over the inner joint so it doesnt have to be dissassembled but i cant see it happenin, this new gaitor is vinyl and it wont stretch at all...not even when heated...it seems the old one is rubber which i imagine would stretch. i guess this is cost cutting on renault behalf.

oh well here i go again...this is DEFINATELY the last time i am tryni....then i give up. i just hope pressin /pulling the inner joint off the shaft isnt too hard as i may be beaten...cant believe a silly little gaiter can defeat me!

I read the tech artiocle, I replied to your pm before I saw that. Surprised you managed to get the shaft out withotu shatterign it, which I have done more than once, you need a pulley to be sure.

a puller not a pulley my spelling mistake. And I was reffering to getting the tripod off the shaft.

It doesn't pop up with a new pm, it just says at the top new msg.

i see and i see....guess i was lucky then cos it just slid off...got a puller if needed, but surely tappin it on the main body of the joint would be ok....got to be daft to start hittin the rollers themselves....i can see all those needle bearings now...can imagine the annoyance of droppin all them...but i couldnt get them off mine even if i wanted too.
