Well look what my idiot mate has gone and done.

Was looking at my cylinder head and then went and placed it face down on the dirty workbench. NOT back on the foam block he picked it up off.

Not very good pics but i'm sure you can all see the problem here.
A small dent on the edge between two cylinders.

It's obviously going to need skimming, but it has already been lightly skimmed once before.
Is this going to cause serious problems?
Compresson ratio is going to be messed up?
Is using two HG's a viable option or is that just bollox i've heard?
Or could i even get away without skimming (very doubtfull as it would be a serious weak spot i imagine)?

Cheers!

Dont use 2 HG's, that just sounds very dodgy.

2 head gaskets a bodge used by idiots.

get him to buy a new renault head, when hes 2 grand lighter he won't make a similar mistake.

its right on the fire ring to so its in a bad place. You can either fit it or get it skimmed but from the pics its goign to need a lot of skimming to sort it out.

damn....not one of the best places to damage the face either...right on the firering between two cylinders...how deep is it? it looks too deep to skim completely out...may someone to put a blob of ally weld in there and reskim it flat.

I thought the two HG's sounded dodgy.

It isn't quite as deep as it looks, i'd say obout 0.5mm, possible a little more.

After all that work aswell Sad

Cleaned and de-coked, new valve stem oil seals, new valve guides and lapped valves.

Is Jonnyboy's suggestion of a dab of ally weld then skimming a possible solution?

I have a wealth of skilled engineers at work who i'm sure would be able to manage something like that if it's a possibility.

Looking like it's going to be a new head though to be honest.
