 Damn torx bolts

I need to take off the camshafts on a renault 19 16v lump and the damn torx bolts are just rounding off at the head, any idea what i can do to get them out

I try the age old trick of hammering a flat screw drive in to it...but might not be advistable here. How come the head had to come off?

grind a slot in the screw head and use a flat blade bit.

Admittedly not ideal if you dont want to strip the head as you'll be getting metal bits everywhere

rusty water is leaking badly from the head gasket, thats were all the water is going

im not sure the screw driver idea is gonna work on this bolt, it's tight as hell, but thanks for the advice, i may have to take the head off then take it to a mech engineer and see what he can do

more to the point why are you removing the cams to take the head off?

Probably for the same reason as me Chris.
The T55 that I have doesn’t fit into the holes so I had to take the cam carriers off to get to them.

arse about tit way of doing things but I cant get a T55 in a 1/2" drive that fits.

1/2'' fit 75mm long, i had to buy a pack on satuarday for the same reason

I had the same problem, JB sorted me with a T55 from motorworld that does the job.

Thats EXACTLY the same place my HG went , think JB's went there too.
