Does anyone know what the small bulbs behind the trip screen are? I'm looking at the replacing my dash bulbs with blue ones. Addie has already pointed me in the right direction for the 4 bigger 501 capless bulbs and reckons the smaller ones are '201's, however there seems to be slight confusion as to what replacements can be used for them.

This website http://www.ultraleds.co.uk shows the 509T Twist fit bulb, would these be a suitable replacement?

Cheers

the bulbs are the same as used in the dash display, heater panel and clock.

The bulbs themselves are clear, they do not give the orange colour.

You will need to strip it all down and replace the orange film with blue, if you just remove the film it will nto light up right.

Yup, I know about the film, but what type bulbs are the ones they use? Are they 201's or 509T's ?

Go into halfords and compare then with the one out of the clock.

Right, popped in to halfords, those 509T look like they would fit but the 'wings' on them that lock them in to the dash are a little out, not sure what that would do for the power connections. The 286 type bulbs which look like they would fit in the existing caps...damn wish they would make this a bit simpler....

Why don't you take the bulbs out of the caps before you go in? THey just pull out. I bought mine from halfords becuase I replaced both the trip computer bulbs and used the existing caps.

theres 2 types of holders.

1 you can pull out, use needle nose pliers. Then push new one in.

the other has the legs soldered to the holder. Use a small screwdriver push each tag on the side in the bulb and metal contacts slide up and out, break the legs off.

To fit new bulbs I pull the legs outward then slide th emetal contacts over then so they are jammed in.
