I had a feeling that was the case after i'd removed the airbag, just wanted to be extra safe before hand seeing as I had no idea  |

Well I removed the airbag from the wheel. Then proceded to remove these two bits:

The left hand thing I guess is the supply as the light from it has been flashing for two years. I'm guessing this meant the supply was knakered No idea what the right hand bit was unless it's a battery.
Anyway have put the airbag back on minus these two items (whilst I wait for a 16v wheel to become avaliable somewhere) these should render the airbag inaffective, I Hope  . |

No, the metal (Silver thing) on the left is the controller/detonator/sensor unit. The white thing on the right is the battery cells and retails at around £110 from Renault still so keep it handy for an eBay sale later! You can stop the warning LED flashing by unplugging the battery from the main unit to prolong it's life however if the light is flashing at a steady, constant rythum then then it means the bag is not connected. Any other pattern will denote a different issue... ie flat battery, faulty controller etc
Dialog's say's that once the battery low light starts flashing you have about a month IIRC to get it replaced but I guess most people just leave them to go flat at the price of getting the cells replced. I guess that's another reason why they went for a vehicle powered unit to, not to mention the obvious safety issue to! |

Just don't like them and as my airbag wheel is in pieces now I thought I may as well get a nice 16v one |

make sure when you put it back you line it up with the doorcards with doors closed, equal gap each side etc., it's annoying when you do it and think its central then get in and shut the door and see its a bit skewed to one side and you have to slacken off all the nuts and screws again to shunt it over a couple of mm |

On closer inspection of the old matrix (running the shower hose through it), I have noticed that only 3 three of the copper pipes seem to be getting a decent flow of liquid through them. I've been banging away  on the thing for an hour and a shitload of crud has come out but there's still no sign of flow through them. They must be totally clogged! So that's off to the bin while I await my new one  |

That's gonna be a bit pricey! I need to buy a garden
I may take it down my folks tomorrow night as they've got some big ass Karcher pressure washer. If I can clear it I may just keep it as a backup  |

Mine just got luke warm at best. Once you went over 30 it just blew whatever temp it was outside, which at this time of year is pretty unbearable. Especially when I had to pick up my parents from Leicester Square last Friday |

the only way to see it working is cleaning it as neal said and chucking it back on filling the system and running the engine
