I am somehow fascinated by these cars and follow two related project websites from time to time. Chris H pointed me to projectvixen.com (where a disassembled D is to be restored to former glory) some years ago, but unfortunately that hasn't been updated for ages.

now to my surprise, the other one at http://www.projectdelorean.com has had a big update in recent days and it's really fun and interesting to browse through all the categories. btw, that one is not built back to its original condition but has been modified rather drastically (new engine, brakes etc.)

just wanted to share this with you Smile

theres something great about deloreans isnt there. Probably just the whole back to the future thing.

I remember reading about the company and all the complicated legal/political rangling surrounding its creation and eventual downfall. You really couldnt make that stuff up!

John Deloreon was up for trial as a mass drug (heroin) dealer.

The brittish government funded the deloreon project and they didn't like John being naughty so they dumped a lot of the cars into the ocean.

the version i read was that eventually a foreign firm bought the rights and tooling to begin making the car, but just as they were to collect the stuff from ireland, the master moulds got chopped up and sold to a fisherman to weigh his nets down with...

You see a odd one on the roads here once every couple of years...

I think there is an owners club here too.

Built just south of Belfast, it's a real shame that it died a death.

They built a couple of gold ones too!
