Does this dialogies thing give you estimations of the time it'll take to do jobs? I've got a copy of it but I'm buggered if I can get it to bloody work! I wanna get me engine mounts done (and possibly gearbox ones too), and wondering how long a job are they?

Just wanna know is it gonna be like £20 or £800 lol

do um yourself, the gearbox one is piss easy, a 16mm socket and extention, and a 16mm spanner, took me 10mins, 2 bolts, one on the top, one in the hole in the subframe, jack the gearbox up and it'll be ample room to get it out.

I changed the rear on mine (TD) without a jack. Two bolts off. Popped out. New one in. Job done Smile

Changing the other two soon. Just need a jack and a bit of wood to support the side you are changing and take the weight. If I can do it, anyone can Wink

I knew my rear one was shot as my engine rocked like a sailing boat in a hurricane Smile which made the gearstick move about 3 inches whenever I accelerated. When I checked all the rubber had collapsed and was not supporting anything. The other two I am yet to check.

diesel mounts are totally different to the petrols so theres no point in comparing them!

yes dialogies gives labour time and its 2/3 hous for the rear engine mount.

Abotu half an hour from the gearbox one.

How do I know the engine mounts are shot? Isn't that like saying "how do you know ur steering isn't working?" lol, cuz it's kinda obvious. I would take a pic if I could be arsed, but my exhaust manifold is cutting quite big chunks out of my heatshield, so I'd say there's quite a bit of movement there! Engine just feels 'loose' when I change gear, pull away, etc. I could be wrong (it's highly likely!) but I dunno

well if the gearbox mount is shot, open the bonnet and run the engine, look throgh the gap so you can see the engine, put it in 1st, get the bite, if it moves shit loads then its shot, mine had, it dented the bonnet, and dented the suspension turret!
