just been working on a 1.4 energy, the ECU for that is a 'P'... also I've never seen a P revision 16V one, so id say they might have sold you an energy ECU...

OK Put my New ECU in with chip and it dont start. It turns over but no go. I take it this means I can not use it??

Also from previous comments, my standard ECU is a C revision so will the chip i bought(1 from ebay) not work?

put your standard one back in and try it

if it still does not start then u have not reset the ECU

battery off, battery on, doors. boot and bonnet SHUT, plip the doors locked, then unlocked

if no plip, sit inside the car and use the central locking button

the basic rule of thumb is, only C revision ECU's will work on cars that were originally fitted with the C revison ECU (althou i did manage to get neals D revison working on my c revison 19)

so if the car now starts with your standard ECU back in it, DC the battery, take it out and put back the modded one (assuming u have fitted the chip correct in the modded ECU) .
repeat the 'plipping' routine
if it does not start, sell the modded ECU on ebay as a chipped one.

now the next question you are going to ask is, can i get a chip for my C revision ECU?

the answer is yes, you can but only two ppl i know do them.
One being superchips, £265 plus vat thank u sir

or look for pennyduck on ebay who sells his own brand of chip, tell him you want the same chip he supplied to Wicked Neo from retro-renault Smile

errrr, did u ever ask about one doc ? lol

tbh they aint that great, any of them as they are generic, the power claims for them are overhiked, you are looking at maybe 4-5 bhp gain with one.

the only way you are going to see any benefits with fitting a chip is to have one properly fitted and mapped to your engine and engine mods you have and then you may get up to 15 bhp power gain.

some are, some are not.

depends on the chip supplied to you, Mick Penny supplies his as eproms (eraseable, programable. read only memory) which yes can have the orginal mapping erased and reburnt with new mapping (you can not modify the programming on the chip directly), but to have it remapped, again off you go down the dyno and they will map it according to your engine specs and how its performing on the rolling road.

others are supplied on a ROM and are just that, Read Only.

Another point i should add is that any chip with modified mapping can affect emissions which will cause your car to fail the mot.

As it goes, i am sure if we was to talk to Mick, he could supply a package, as he knows us here at RR.

say like a Track chip and a Fast Road chip and you keep your standard chip for mot time.

Again they would not give u the same amount of power as a purpose mapped chip would but Mick could supply one of each i guess using his maps from his race clios

Pennyduck is who i bought the chip from last year but only have got round to doing anything. Could he re program it for me?? Origanally i just told him it was a ph2 ECU. perhaps its worth trying to put the chip in my standard ECU, i am just worried that it could get naffed up then im in trouble. who would recommend to fit the chip?

Also is MickKPM the guy I need??(on renaultsport)

nope mickpm is a different guy to pennyduck

if u message pennyduck and explain about the chip, i am sure he will arrange to swap them over for you.
He is very very helpful as it goes

dont even bother putting the chip into your C revison ECU, it wont work, simple as

tbh i have never come across a P revison ECU for the 19 16v.

your posts are a little confusing

i thought u had tried the P revision with it already chipped and it failed to start the car ?

on the 19's with the C revison ECU as standard, you dont scrap the immob, its built into the ECU, it stops the injectors from working, which is why you can not fit most aftermarket chips, they dont have the immob in the programming.

i worked a bit with pennyduck last year sorting out chips for the c revision and he can supply a chip for your c revision ECU which will work.

the seperate aftermarket immob is not an issue
