had the refurbed set of alloys fitted with tyres yesterday and had them fitted on the car ,the tracking has been sorted at the same time .

the shakey seems to be cured a bit but i can still feel the car pulling to the left especially when i put my foot down .

also selecting lower gearsb dont feel very comfy ,especially the reverse .1st and 2nd .

i thought it might be an engine mount but dont know how and what to check ???? can somebody help please ?

cheers

took a few pictures of the rear mount (not much room there thus the pics are crap sorry )

they checked the ball joints at the mot test one was faulty and replaced .

now the question is ,would my 2 different front legs have any affect on this pulling to the left ????

also there is not a screw holding the left front disc to the hub ,i have been told that the wheel bolts are holding the disc anyway ??????

might be the time toget some bits from the balck rt Rolling Eyes

it might be only me but also when i adjust the steering to a higher level ,the operation of the steering wheels feel much smoother . is the steering wheel touching the engine while in the lowest position ????/

not unless they were different sizes(1 normal and 1 lowered), the make of them don't matter.

That’s rite, the bolts hold it in place anyway, the screws just help with the alignment of the holes, making it easier to put the wheel back on.

Did the wheels get balanced when they were fitted? That would cause the drive to be a bit shaky.

Did you check the two front mounts for splits and wear? As I said before if the front mounts are worn they can impact the efficiency of the rear mount when under load. However the rear mount would be fine when stationary like in your picture.

When did you last change the oil in the box? This could be another attributing factor to your gear problems.

When stationary can you select all gears fine or not? That should give a clearer
Indication of where the problem may lay.

that manafold it too close to the heat shield!

check the mounts again!!

That will also cause your awkward gear changes.

1 leg is a non 16v and the other is a 16v one ,none of them are lowering shocks or springs so there should not be a problem there then .

yes the wheels were all balanced before fitting .

i thought manifold would only be leaning to the back because of a fecked rear mount ??

how do you check the front mounts ?? there is not much space there to see anything Confused

the manifold is fine, thats the way most sit when they strat to fray, mine is closer than that and has 3 new mounts.

the steerign column when at its highest and best position is easier to turn as your not straining the uj's int he column, only midgets and dwarves nbeed to have it lowered right down anyway

will take your word for the manifold mate .

will adjust the teering a bit higher than the lowest and try it that ay for a bit and see the difference .

and i am guessing the problem with my gear changes is to do with my dodgy gearlink adjustment job as i stuck a tick washer into the gear link rod offset to be able to select the fifth gear .

so how can i trace this problem about puling to one side ??? how can i check ball joints ,bushes etc ???

use a breaker bar to lever against them, if they move easily or have a lot of play replace them, just get new wishbones, come complete with new bushes, and balljoints for 30 quid a side.

Like shakal I'l take your word for it.
I've never seen one that close to the heat shield that never had a problem?? but you've seen more than I.
