i reakon my gearbox problem is from a fooked rear engine mount (or one of the others) as its leaning back and moved to the left (kinda diagonally) so im gona try new ones before i try a new box
so my question is how can it be done (nice description please) also as my sockets and spanners stop at 16mm what tools will i need (sockets,spanners, jacks?cranes?)
i havent attempted this on my own before so any help and advice is more than welcome

Rear mount is an arse of a job with the engine in mate.
Support the weight of the engine under the sump (with a bit of wood between it and the jack!)
undo the black bracket that goes from the back of the gearbox to the mount (2x18mm nuts+bolts at the gearbox, 1x18mm nut+bolt at the mount)
Once the bracket is off, there are 3x16mm bolts holding the mount to subframe, 2 from the top, 1 from behind. Get those out and you should be able to somehow manouever the mount out of position.

I already told you this isn't the problem.
Bu easiest way to do the back mount is undo the 3 16mm bolts from under the car, then undo the 18mm nut and bolt through the donought mount.
Then undo the front box mount and then support the engine take the 18mm botl out of the rear moutn then pull the engine and box forward to clear the rear moutn then lift it out. |

if you get upto mine sharpish bb you can whip the box out from one of my cars. they're only getting scrapped anyway.
(mrs isnt there either so you wont get any problems from her. lol |
