take the passenger wheel off get a crow/breaker bar and lever the gearbox up against the subframe, if its broke you will see the split.

Yes it looked ok from that angle.

Neal covered the rear mount however a glance at it doesn't tell the whole story. Mine is buggered but it loosk ok, except the enigne leans back abotu an inch and I can undo certian screws normally that I can when the mounts fine.

brakes, could be a few things, master cyl is not uncommon failing on the cars. Check the rear brakes for leaking cylinders.

Well I got the front mounts from GSF today - their online shop is excellent btw! I ordered the bits yesterday and they arrived about mid-day today.

Anyway - onto the bits. Can I get replacement nuts for the mounts or do I have to use the existing ones? If I can replace them, are they special Ren jobbies or can I get em from Homebase/B&Q?

Also, I got a rocker gasket while I was at it but the destructions on the packet are a bit confusing. It has the tightening sequence drawn on, but it has "Timing side" on the left, "Gearbox side" on the right, "Exhaust" on the top and "Intake" on the bottom. I thought the exhaust valves were on the front side of the energy engines (ie bottom on the diagram), with the timing belt on the left and gearbox on the right. I can take a photo of the package if what I'm saying don't make sense!

As for the brakes, would a leaky rear cylinder be more likely to cause the 'recharging' brakes effect than a dodgy master cylinder? Or could it be air (AGAIN!)?

Cheers

cant say for sure, but on the valver theres no need to worry about a tightening sequence for the rocker cover...just nip each one up by hand. dont overdo it cos they strip threads easy...may be diff in ur case if not a valver head.

i got new nuts im sure with my gsf engine mounts!

You got luckier than me then - i defo got no bolts with my mounts. Maybe GSF sell them tho - I'll probably end up ordering them from Renault Sad At least they should be cheap(ish).

you don't get new nuts etc, I just reuse the old ones.

rocker cover does have a tightening sequence, the instructions are wrong, well the diagram is. Anyway follow the sequence and ignore the port/valve placement.

Go round them once leave 10 mins to settle then go back round them.
