finally I got m engine back together and looking mint. all connectors are connected im pretty sure.

With the battery connected, the anti perc pump came straight on... a bit wierd and its probably something to do with the relay discussed in another thread, but thats a problem for antoher time.

When i try to start the car, the fuel pump comes on for a second or so (presumably to prime), then goes off. On cranking, theres a good healthy spark. But the damn thing just will not start!

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, how does the OE immobiliser actually immobilise the car?

perc pump will come on and run for the standard 8 mins like its supposed to.

Priming pump is a good sign. It wont prime if the immobilser is on.

try holdign the throttle fully open.

Also I done a bloody tech article on the stock immobilser.

Make sure the dizzy caps on and fitted right and th erotor arm is there etc.

it has fuel, it has spark...so all other things being well, it should fire.

the lads and i played around again today... in the end we used some jump leads from the engine to the chassis as extra earthing wires.

That did the trick. Started up nicely and ran fine. Ill rig up some permanent beefy ones over the weekend. Sounds very tappy at the moment, i guess the oil needs to work its way into the tappets properly.

yeah it will tap for up to half an hour possibly....just leave it running and running should sort itself out. how long u had it running for? did u clean the tappets good? flushed with thinners etc?

i got extra earth leads...from point behind head (existing) direct to battery terminal...check the one from the gearbox to the arch hasnt died and fallen off or something.

glad to hear its runnin tho! good work! have you driven it yet?
