Hi guys,

Is there any special things i need to know before i try exchanging the front doors on my spare parts car? Wink

And further newbie questions Embarassed
1. What needs disconnecting ? (it has electric windows)

need to disconnect the window and mirror wiring, but worry not! Pull out the rubber flexi hose thing with the wiring in that goes from the front of the door to the shell and inside the shell end of it theres a multiplug. Pull that apart and youre good to go.

For the lock you just need to remove the door card and theres a metal clip thing that slides behind the lock to hold it in place. Door swap... 30 minutes max and that if you take your time

Ok, getting the door off was no problem.
Getting the door card off is a real pain. I've loosened the five screws i can see.
1 holds the mirror cover
3 hold the door pocket
1 holds the door handle

(already i've taken the speaker out)
Its still stuck as hell Rolling Eyes
Where are the rest of them or what to do next? Embarassed

After you get the screws out there are plastic clips all round the edges of the card, don't be too rough or you can crack the card (like I did)!

The two big ones i hadnt undone yet. They were covered with black sponges, some kind of cushioning or something.

The pin that goes into the lock fell out of its original position from the other side (the locking motor). I have no idea where its supposed to go in Embarassed
I've already taken the motor and pins out of the door now to try and figure this out but this is a headache to get together

pins? the metal rods connecting the various locks/handles?

it is fiddly as you can't see half of it...have to do it by feel, and the way they clip in is funny...need to put the bent end of the rod into the lpastic clip's hole and swivel the plastic clip onto the rod....hard to explain.

if you still get stuck i can get a pic of the clips and rod

its easy, theres 3 plastic bits where they go in.

in shcaks pics, the long one goes to the interior handle, the short one to the outer handle and theres a small one up th etop which goes tot he door lock.

you put the arm in the centre of the plastic then rotate it round so it snaps onto the rod to secure it.

This one is of my piece. Comes from the left front door.

The top rod is the door pin which stick out of the doorcard on top
Bottom is the one which connects to the interior door handle
Left connects to the outer door handle
What i dont get is how i get the small pin and door lock to work together.
I presume they connect to the small white plastic hole which is broken in half i think. Its next to the small rod

Any ideas? Shocked
