right maybe im looking in the wrong places but i cant find anyone who makes exhaust systems for my 19! - mine has holes all over it so cant be repaired!

also do i need a CAT? it was first registered on 01/03/1992 its got the F7P 704 engine which i understand has no means of adjusting CO2 content.

thanks Smile

www.motorsportworld.co.uk have got systems for the 19. I bought a mongoose one off 'em a while back. Was lookin for a Magnex one but they have been discontinued and nobody has got 'em anymore. Well, not that I've found anyway. But yeah the mongoose one shouldn't be hard to get hold of. Plenty of new ones on ebay actually.

cat test is 31/8/92, before that any 16V shoudl pass it unless its firing on 3 and even then theres a chance of a pass!

as far as i know, the F7P 704 IS the catted version of the 19 F7P engine.. its the 700 that doesn't have a cat..

hmm... well, maybe its different in the uk, but in denmark, if a car has been type approved with a cat, it's not legal to remove it and it will never pass MOT, etc. without it....

if a car comes with and without, like the 19, i actually don't know how they distinguish between them, ie if its only the first registration date (like its suggested here) or what.. im pretty sure they dont check the engine number.. is it possible to figure out the engine type (700/704) from the VIN?

you only need to meet the emmisions requirements for the age of the car, which means anythign before 31st of august will pass an mot cat or not realy.

the 16V outputs 1.5%CO

HC's are around 150ppm

thats a stock healthy engine according to renault.

The test pre 31st aug 92 here is under 3.5 % CO and under 1200 HCs ppm

cat test is under 0.5% CO and under 200 HC's ppm

as for cat test output from renault I don;t know. the cat is an after through, its merely there to serve its function seperatly from the engine.

CATS are not the way to reduce emmisions properly but they do the job effectively.
